About a year ago, Eric Schaer proposed to his girlfriend of three years, Cathy Mallet. Although the couple had talked about getting married, they had agreed that it would be best to wait until Cathy finished her nursing degree. However, Eric Schaer's plans changed after the two attended a friend's wedding. He spoke with the bride and groom beforehand and made arrangements to propose at their reception. Instead of throwing the bouquet, the bride walked over to Cathy and placed it in her hands. Everyone else stepped back and there was Eric Schaer, on one knee with a ring in his hands. Cathy immediately said yes, and the band played a special song for the two of them.

The couple quickly decided that they wanted to get married in the fall of 2011. They planned everything together, from the invitations, to the cake (Eric Schaer's favorite!), to the venue. Because the wedding is fast approaching, the invitations have been sent out and the RSVP's are rolling in. Guests can stay at the reception site in Colorado or in a number of local bed and breakfasts nearby.
After The Wedding
After the wedding, the couple is honeymooning in Scotland. Eric Schaer is most excited to visit the Royal Mile in Edinburgh, while Cathy is hoping to catch a glimpse of the new royal couple at their Holyrood Palace. The royal couple isn't scheduled to be in residence at that time, but as Cathy says after Eric's surprise proposal, "You never know what can happen!
